stella gassaway works : : memory landscapes: gestural drawings and mixed media

My work is an exploration of distant memory. Each drawing or mixed media piece is a recollection of an event or physical space; a visualization of a moment past. The smaller drawings are investigations, a series of journeys into these memories. Each memory is expressed in layers of color beginning with a grid defining time. Overlaid are transparent impressions and specific marks. The largest of the work is intended to fill the space a viewer can embrace to create a memory landscape.
