My work is an exploration of distant memory.
It is a meditation and journey visualizing the smells, sounds, and experience of what one can define as the past.
Each drawing or mixed media piece is a recollection of an event or physical space; a visualization of a moment past. The memory is expressed in layers of color beginning with a grid defining time. Overlaid are transparent impressions and specific marks.
I never remove or erase marks – I transform them or obliterate them, blending them into the drawing of my memory. The smaller drawings are investigations, a series of journeys into these memories. A haiku.
The largest of the work is intended to fill the space a viewer can embrace to create a memory landscape.
