Stella Gassaway is an artist living and working in Philadelphia. Born in Guam in 1955, educated in NYC, settled in Philadelphia.

Stella chose to move to Sherman Mills with her partner Margaret in early 2005; taking an art studio in building 32 sealed the deal. Stella has made art for as long as she can remember. She would organize her crayons, pencils, and paints by hue and value then fan them out into little color wheels before beginning each of her drawings; a ritual she still performs.

Stella studied drawing and printmaking at the Art Students League and School of Visual Arts in New York City. She studied communication design at Parsons in New York and has been a creative professional for 30 years. Her firm Stellarvisions at 1616 Walnut Street is a powerful hub of energy, strategy, and collaboration. The discipled and intuitive aspects of being a designer and artist, the work and the play, the seeing and the telling, are totally integrated expressions.
